| I had an amazing night. Whilst at the Buccaneer, a local venue where drinks flow freely and music is occasionally live, I happened upon the musicians playing that night and ended up in a whimsical conversation that eventually led to them telling me their tour plans, and that they were going to sleep (the five of them) in a van on a rainy memphis night. This brought back memories of my own tours which were always provided for by the college I attended. Always had great homestays, met amazing generous people who always gave us a warm bed or couch and provided breakfast and transportation. I was in no position to deny them a chance to stay the night with The David Lund, so, they crashed at my place. And it was awesome. These young boys from Baltimore (the Felon Family for those interested) were a blast to have over. As of now I've known them for less than twenty four hours, but I feel better just knowing that I could help. SO, this isn't me pounding my own chest about what a great thing I did (other than the vodka they drank it didn't really cost me a dime), but a request to pay it forward, pass on whatever you can, and take the opportunity to give back when you can. It was one of the most rewarding situations I've had recently. | | |
| Just so that I don't leave that crappy entry up as my last ever known post :P Memphis is still a crazy city. This city I think enjoyed Kansas' loss tonight as much as they abhored their own Tiger's defeat last night. It was a big sigh of relief for me as well, as I didn't want to hear my co-worker go on and on about those thieving Jayhawks (they did steal a campionship last year). Above all though, I bleed maroon and gold, mostly gophers, although next time the cobbers do something to merrit national attention I'll be proud to be a CC alumn, admitedly conveniently. Other than that, anyone waiting with baited breath for my arrival in Branson, MO will be sorely disappointed. My trip has been canceled, as I will be working from home the next three weeks, instead of from the new BBY in the show me state. They could not justify sending me along with my team, despite having a good 4th quarter that has seen stock jump back to the area of pre-reciession rates. Ah well. At least I have shnookums (the cat). Peace ya'll. I'll catch you on the flip side. | | |
| Despite how many times it happens, I always come to the same conclussion. When you are in a rut, drinking does not make thing better. Thankfully I am niether an angry nor agressive drunk, so its generally doesn't get worse. But drinking when you are in a rut does two things: it gets you drunk, very very drunk usually, and it postpones the inevitable: Dealing with what you didn't want to face. So lets face it. Bad things happen and no matter how good you can be to some people, those same people will burn you. So we learn. Learn that you have to be careful with whom you trust. Learn that there are good friends out there still who will do anything in their power to help you. And learn to leave those who hurt you in the past, because when you know the full scope of what they did to you, you realize they would crush you again because they are selfish and they can't make themselves happy and will expect you to do that for them. And I won't any longer lay toy to their wants and whims. To good friends thank you. Love you, miss you and can't wait to see you. | | |
| So I am in a pretty small(ish) town setting up a new store. And I swear I have had to stop more fights the past four days than in all my life. The townies here are a bunch of haters. We must smell like deoderant and speak with a hint of education because the local hillbillies have taken offense at our presence. Pure rediculousness. Thus far we've done ok, been kicked out of a couple of places, and danced with a couple of the wrong women (I must say its not my fault that they don't start the conversation ps I'm married). But having a great time with the guys I work with. And we know for sure that we got each others backs. Peace | | |
| Hot Springs Arkansas! Land of little night life. Make that exactly zero night life. Funny, our last trip before this was Miami....there seems to be subtle differences in the two. One being beaches and closeness to the Florida Keys. Oh and our beautiful cherry red dodge chargers. Rentals are fun. So far its been mostly cheap drinks and shakes here. Oh and a brutal round of basketball. I miss coordinated people. I have less bruises playing them because they don't tackle me. And so, my aimless ranting comes to an end. Peace ya'll David | | |
